Promotes Gail Pak and hires Amy O’Neill, Athina Afton Lalljee, Steven Davenport, Andrew Strachan, Jayme Fairbridge, Jon Dick and Olivia Hashka

McCann Canada has announced the promotion of Gail Pak to VP, creative director, and the hiring of seven key hires in the creative department. The moves represent an ongoing expansion of McCann’s creative talent pool across Canada as the agency continues to grow.

Creative director Gail Pak has been promoted to VP, creative director and the agency adds Amy O’Neill, Athina Afton Lalljee, Steven Davenport and Andrew Strachan as associate creative directors. Jayme Fairbridge joins as a senior art director and Jon Dick and Olivia Hashka join as copywriter and art director, respectively.

McCann Canada Chief Creative Officer, Josh Stein, said: “We are thrilled to have the talent of Amy, Athina, Jayme, Jon and Olivia joining our team and, of course, we are so happy to be welcoming back Steven and Andrew to the McCann family – that says something about the creative culture - when people return home.”

Adds Stein, “And last, but certainly not least, we are so pleased to be promoting Gail Pak to VP, Creative Director. Gail and her partner, Mike Shuman, have been behind some of our best work for key clients, most recently picking up recognition from Cannes, the One Show and the Webbys for their work for Mastercard. I personally could not be prouder to see her continue to grow and lead at McCann.”

Gail Pak is an award-winning Creative Director who joined the McCann team in 2019 from Zulu Alpha Kilo and is now being promoted to VP, Creative Director. Gail and her creative partner, Mike Shuman, have been leading the work for Petro-Canada and Mastercard for the past two years. They recently led the creative development for the launch of Petro-Canada’s Caremakers Foundation and were also the creative team behind Mastercard’s Safe Waze 2 Shop, which was shortlisted at Cannes and the One Show, and picked up two Webbys for Apps and Software: Integrated Mobile Experience and Apps and Software: Financial Services.

Amy O’Neill has joined McCann as an Associate Creative Director. She comes to McCann from Huge; before that, she spent six years at John St. and Tribal DDB. Since joining McCann, she has already made contributed to the new Nesquik “Betweenagers” work that debuted earlier this month.

Athina Afton Lalljee has joined McCann as an Associate Creative Director, returning to Toronto from the UAE, where she spent the past ten years working at Grey, Y&R and JWT as an award-winning copywriter. Just prior to joining McCann Canada, Athina was the head of creative content for Ogilvy Dubai where she built a robust team to oversee content creation for dozens of brands including IKEA, KFC, HSBC, and Jeep. Her work has been recognized at awards shows around the world, most recently at this year’s Cannes Festival for her work for Lego and Coca-Cola.

McCann is also thrilled to be welcoming back two alumnae, Steven Davenport and Andrew Strachan, as Associate Creative Directors who will partner together to play creative leadership roles on the Bayer CropScience business. The duo joins McCann from BBDO Toronto where they have worked as a team for nearly five years, doing great work on both Rogers and Esso.

The agency also welcomes Senior Art Director Jayme Fairbridge who joins the agency from Bensimon Byrne, and Copywriter Jon Dick and Art Director Olivia Hashka who join the agency from Juniper Park/TBWA.
