72andSunny New York highlights the need for recycled toilet paper
We’re quite literally flushing our forests down the drain.

According to a new report from the NRDC, the average American uses three rolls of toilet paper a week – much of which is sourced from North American forests. Despite this, most conventional toilet paper brands don’t use recycled paper in their products.

In the age of plastic straw bans and reusable totes, why aren’t consumers switching to recycled toilet paper?

Seventh Generation, in partnership with creative agency, 72andSunny New York will debut “Trees and B’s,” a 60 second musical film with Maya Rudolph that brings to life the absurdity of cutting down trees, solely for use as toilet paper. In the spot, Maya Rudolph and her new friend, Mike the Tree, urge consumers to purchase brands like Seventh Generation that use recycled materials in their product.

Seventh Generation and Mike the Tree are also joining forces at Grand Central Terminal in New York City for a “Root-In.” 460 trees will gather in Vanderbilt Hall to raise awareness and advocate for making the switch to recycled toilet paper; a small swap that can have a big impact on our planet’s health. Post-event, the participating trees will be donated to the NYC Parks department. The Root-In is open to the public from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. ET. The 60 second anthem film will debut on NBC Late Night TV beginning tonight (20th March) and will also run on social media.
