Nomad Films India worked with Pulse Films and Mother London to help produce this powerful & touching short for Water.org & Stella Artois, featuring Hollywood star Matt Damon.
Amitabh Bhattacharya, EP, Nomad Films commented on the project: "There was something very intriguing about the water.org project when we first heard of it. There was no script to begin with, and for a production company specializing in commercial production, here was a job that wasn’t a traditional commercial but more of a documentary. It did not have a big budget, was not to be shot in some exotic location in Rajasthan or Kerala & did not require any fancy equipment."
The company was briefed on the project in February 2014, and began work in June. They traveled to remote villages in Nagpur a city 800km from Mumbai to interview women in outlying villages, getting first-hand experience of their problems with portable water.
Nomad was given a set of questions to ask in the interviews: "Do they get potable water in their villages? Do they have taps in their houses or do they have to travel far for water? These weren’t very exciting questions and exciting answers weren’t expected either. We were wrong. The conversations with these women in the hamlets revealed to us realities we city dwellers would have never realised”.
Adds Amitabh “We was really concerned about the service we could offer in such remote locations. We were relieved that Pulse and Mother London went back happy.
Having worked so closely with Pulse on this project we at Nomad were very anxious to see the final edits. And when we finally saw the edits we were moved, to say the least. Fred and Nick did such a brilliant job”.
