The experiential studio BLVD-MTL, now part of the advertising and experience division at Rodeo FX, has appointed Mathieu Lalumière as its new art director and lead motion designer. Lalumière will be bringing his creativity and visual eye to pitches and projects and will be in charge of building the motion design team.
Mathieu Lalumière developed his strong artistic talents while working for several large studios such as Fly Studio, Moment Factory, and international studios (Momoco in London, The Baltimore Sun). However, it was when he worked as a visual conceptor for Prologue, a studio based in Los Angeles specialized in visual storytelling and open title design, that he was given the opportunity to express pure creativity. Working on title sequence pitches for major Hollywood films and series, he found many different ways to tell interesting stories expressed through original design and mood boards.
At the advertising and experience division, Lalumière's big challenges will be to develop the motion design department and bring his storytelling talents to projects and pitches. “I’m excited to have him elevating our VFX and experiential pitches,” says Andres Norambuena, the division’s vice-president. “Mathieu will also be building and mentoring a motion design team and bringing them up to his level.”
An additional component of his new role will be to guide clients in the transformation of their ideas into images as well as push the limits of storytelling and visuals in their projects. Norambuena also appreciates Lalumière’s vibe and attitude: “Mathieu has the right DNA, he’s laid back and he has a strong artistic vision. He’s the right person to help us grow our experiential portfolio and do more motion design—that’s where the possibilities are truly endless.”
