Global music agency expands its presence in Asia with sixth global office
International music agency MassiveMusic has extended its global reach with the opening of an office in Tokyo, as the worldwide network lands in Japan.

Deciding that ‘the sun should never set on MassiveMusic’, the opening of the Tokyo outpost will be the company’s sixth global office, following in the footsteps of Amsterdam, London, New York, Los Angeles and Shanghai.

The Tokyo team will be composed of Junya Terui, Managing Director & Executive Producer, Tamon Fujimi, Business Development Manager, and Rick Sakurai, Creative Director & Composer.

Reinforcing the company’s commitment in Asia, the opening of a Tokyo office allows MassiveMusic to have professionals within the local market who understand the Japanese language and culture and can communicate with clients, fully understanding their needs, wants and expectations.

“We believe true teamwork and creativity stems from a human to human connection,” explains Terui. “Building a conveniently located office and studio in Tokyo allows us to communicate as perfectly with the market as can be.”

Hans Brouwer, CEO and Founder of MassiveMusic, comments: “We’ve done a lot of great work in Japan over the past few years and we totally fell in love with the country. It really felt like a natural step to open a new office and expand our presence in Asia. Our aim is to work better with brands and agencies in Japan and drive innovation through diversity."

With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics imminent, MassiveMusic are entering the Japanese market at an exciting time. Brouwer adds: “After working on the main campaign for the Olympic Games in 2016, we hope we can play a significant role here too. With agencies and brands becoming increasingly international, this will have an impact on the projects they work on and is something MassiveMusic can help with, considering our international presence and the array of different services we can offer."

Terui adds: “Tokyo plays a pivotal role in Asian culture and business. Between 2015 and 2016 we had a huge increase in expats coming to the city. It gives you a hint that recently there’s been a shift towards a more international market. We’re keen to be innovative both musically and strategically in this industry. Whilst we’d like to become known in the market for our TVC work, we’re also looking to partner and collaborate with innovative brands and technologically advanced agencies with great ideas by offering bespoke music, sonic branding, and musical activations.”

Fujimi adds: “The market is evolving every day and has really reached a tipping point. Historically, Japan has been known for being an isolated nation and culture, but it’s in the midst of change. With that, so is its advertising style, with Western standards and perspectives on creativity and quality becoming increasingly important. Companies with an international mind-set are quite rare here; we want to be one of those companies and blend local global creativity.”

In true MassiveMusic style, there will be an opening party at Wall&Wall in Omotesando on May 11th to celebrate the official opening of the new office.
