Marvel & BBDO NY Launch New Avengers Comic

This week, BBDO NY and its Diversity Council along with Marvel Custom Solutions launched a new Avengers comic book Heroes Welcome.  You can view the comic in its entirety here.

Timed to coincide with Marvel’s 75th anniversary, Heroes Welcome, starring The Avengers and the young hero named Nova, tells the story of what can happen when people of different backgrounds, talents and abilities come together and champion one another . The comic book, written by Eisner Award-winner Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by fan favorite artist Mark Brooks, was created by Marvel Custom Solutions with ad agency BBDO NY and its Diversity Council.

It’s also an example of how one agency is addressing the issue of diversity in our industry and using its creativity to deliver this message.  The comic book is available free online here.  And because young people are both our future and the future talent for our industry, BBDO and Marvel have partnered with the Police Athletic League to help share this comic book with children in each of the five boroughs of NYC via interactive educational sessions. The first of these sessions was hosted today (Thursday, May 22) at PAL’s Harlem Center. 

The launch event even featured a surprise visit form the world-famous, Armored Avenger -- Iron Man (back row, standing next to him is BBDO New York Pres/CEO John Osborn - left).
