Manners McDade’s Simon Russell Scores BBC Four’s Handmade in Bolton

Directed by Waldemar Januszczak, the BBC Four series follows ex-forger Shaun Greenhalgh and Dr Janina Ramirez who research and recreate a variety of ancient works of art using traditional materials and methods.

The first episode explores the process of remaking a Visigoth eagle brooch and sourcing authentic materials, whilst drawing inspiration from a visit to a bird of prey sanctuary in Lancashire.

Simon Russell is an award-winning composer based in London. He is known for his work using found sounds, sampling, and electronics.

Simon recently scored the much-anticipated second series of Exodus ; Debt Saviours, a BBC documentary about the work of the CAP (Christiana Against Poverty), and Iran Unveiled: Taking On The Ayatollahs, the story of the Girls Of Revolution Street women’s movement in Iran. He has also scored Channel 4’s The Curry House Kid, following world-renowned choreographer Akram Khan and his journey back to the curry houses of his childhood
