Manners McDade's Jack Arnold Composes for New Cinema Release Wild Rose

Manners McDade artist Jack Arnold has composed and directed the music for new cinema release Wild Rose.

Directed by Tom Harper (The Scouting Book For Boys, Peaky Blinders and BBC’s War and Peace), Wild Rose features Julie Walters (Marion), Jessie Buckley (Rose-Lynn Harlan) and Sophie Okonedo (Susannah). The film follows ex-convict Rose-Lynn and her ambitions to make it out of Glasgow and as a major Nashville country star. Jack acted as musical director and composer for the film, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival 2018.

Jack C. Arnold is an RTS nominated film, television and theatre composer who works from his studio in North London.

Jack has composed music for numerous theatre productions since 2001, but his first score for TV and film came in 2009 when he was commissioned to score the primetime ITV1 fantasy series, Demons, starring Philip Glenister, and the feature film The Scouting Book For Boys, directed by long-time collaborator, Tom Harper. Subsequently Jack went on to work on acclaimed series This Is England 86, and Albatross, a film starring Felicity Jones, directed by Niall McCormick, before he was nominated for a 2011 RTS Award for his score to Holy Flying Circus. Jack’s other credits include the music for World War Three: Inside The War Room, a documentary for BBC2; Tom Harper’s The War Book ,a BBC drama involving a group of civil servants role-playing the scenario of a nuclear threat to the UK;  and Jack also worked as source music composer and consultant on the BBC co-production of War and Peace.

Jack has also worked on William Boyd’s new play, The Argument (2016), at The Hampstead Theatre, and scored The Level, a six-part drama for ITV from Hillbilly TV starring Lindsey Coulson and Noel Clarke, and Striking Out, a new legal drama series for RTE.

In 2017, Jack scored Loaded, a new comedy drama series written and produced by Jon Brown for C4, and a documentary directed by Gabriel Range, The Attack: Terror In The UK.
