Manners McDade Welcomes Composer Emily Hall

Emily's music is formed from close creative relationships with singers, instrumentalists and writers and finding her own ways of using technology and live performance. She speaks with a gentle and intimate voice drawing the listener into her sound world of beautiful melodies and gentle harmonies. Emily has written operas, songs and song cycles and for many different ensembles and orchestras including the London Sinfonietta, LSO, BBCNOW, the Brodsky Quartet, Opera North, LCO and the Hungarian Radio Choir. Her trilogy of song cycles, written with the author Toby Litt, tackle the subjects of first love ('Befalling'), motherhood ('Life Cycle') and death ('Rest').  She made a film-opera 'The Nightingale and the Rose' with filmmaker Gaelle Denis, written for Streetwise Opera, a concept album/opera 'Folie a Deux' written with the Icelandic author Sjon and 'Found and Lost' a site-specific opera installation commission by the Corinthia Hotel, London.

Emily is a member of Bedroom Community, the Icelandic record label and writes and performs with the duo MANDEL whose first EP ‘Nha Trang, Mini Suite’ is released on 8th January.
