Manners McDade Composer Tim Phillips Scores New Series of ‘Ackley Bridge’

The second series of Ackley Bridge starts tonight at 8pm on Channel 4, with music by Tim Phillips.

Ackley Bridge is a drama series set in a Yorkshire mill town, where a new academy school merges the lives and cultures of the largely divided white and Asian community. The cast features Jo Joyner and Sunertra Sarker.

Tim's distinctive music has powered over 150 hours of high quality drama including 9 series of Channel 4’s huge hit Shameless, the epic period drama Jericho for ITV, the acclaimed BBC/Endor film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot, starring Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench, and in 2017 the first series of Ackley Bridge. In America his scoring credits include Delete for SyFy and Entourage for HBO.

Tim’s first musical The Grinning Man, co-written with Marc Teitler, Carl Grose and Tom Morris, premiered in Oct 2016 to widespread critical acclaim and a full run of standing ovations (“crowned by an extraordinary score” – Whatsonstage). In December 2017 the musical transferred to the West End (Trafalgar Studios), with huge success.

In addition, Tim is also Co-Artistic Director of Filter Theatre, one of Britain’s most innovative and critically acclaimed theatre companies.

The episodes will be made available on All 4, where you can now watch the first series, also scored by Tim:
