Maker’s Mark Mixes It Up

 

As election season heats up, joining the Maker’s Mark Cocktail Party 2012 is a strategic move that proves far more appealing than conquering the political divide. The new digital campaign via agency Doe Anderson features politically diametric couple James Carville and Mary Matalin in a series of spots helmed by Directorz Jeff Bednarz.
 
The vignettes charm as Carville and Matalin engage in playful verbal sparring over their politically disparate views, ultimately coming together over the love of a great cocktail. At the conclusion of each :15 spot, viewers are invited to join the party at http://www.makersmark.com/#cocktail-party. As noted on the website: “With all the petty squabbling and political disappointments in America today, we've decided to mix things up. “It was a true pleasure to work with James Carville and Mary Matalin on this campaign,” says Director Bednarz. “They are so sharp and hilarious -- their mutual admiration and love shines through the debate. The agency creative was perfectly married with America’s best-known political couple. My role was to create an environment where they could do what they do best.”
 
Part of this environment, unnamed in the campaign, was the selection of the shoot location: the classic and beautiful Arnaud’s restaurant in New Orleans. It was at this historic establishment that Carville and Matalin celebrated their wedding reception, and where presidents, dignitaries and politicos of all stripes have raised a glass for generations.
