Luke Losey directs Spring Summer Film for Mulberry
British luxury brand Mulberry has commissioned Park Village to capture the spirit of its Spring Summer 2011 season: romantic, ethereal and decadently floral.
Luke Loseydirected the film taking six Mulberry campaign images shot by renowned photographer Tim Walker and featuring models Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit,using visual effects; animation, rotoscoping and repainting, to make the pictures come alive: the models blink, their piglet companion moves and the dozens of bunches of hydrangeas bloom and ‘pop’ in front of the viewers’ eyes.
The visualeffects company Framestore (who have previously worked on projects for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Avatar) created the digital animation bycutting out hundreds of images and giving them independent motion within a defined 3D space. Every available element from each image was isolated and ‘freed’ from the backdrop, allowing them to move in dreamlike layers within the images. The result is a montage of moving, magical moments from the original campaign – romantic, ethereal and in keeping with the aesthetics and theme of Mulberry’s Spring Summer 2011 season.
