When BBC London 94.9 launched its new music theme on Monday, it marked the completion of a three year on-air branding project by London based Mcasso Music.

Mcasso were awarded the contract in May 2009. Their adaptable 3 note theme, incorporated into News, Weather, Travel, & Production beds can now currently be heard the length and breadth of England on the 40 BBC Local Radio stations.

BBC London 94.9 was the final station to launch with its specially adapted 5 note arrangement of the logo.

The new on air sound coincides with the station’s year of big events starting with the London Marathon and Mayoral Election. It’s the first new sound package for the station in a decade.

Mcasso Music MD Mike Connaris: "This has been a mammoth project, the biggest in our 30 year history. In total over 1000 tracks were composed and arranged between our four composers. The brief was to come up with a theme that would be memorable & adaptable, giving local radio a uniform sound, whilst allowing each station to keep its own identity. It’s been hard work, but we’re very proud to have been involved in this project."
