Grey Malaysia's new campaign for Persatuan Dyslexia Malaysia

'Lennon, Einstein, Picasso'

Dyslexic children find it difficult to read and write fluently and accurately – they are often slower than their peers as they have coordination problems and struggle in comprehending words. However, some parents and teachers fail to realize that dyslexia is just a learning disability, and that by labeling them as “stubborn” or “lazy” will cause them to be even more frustrated and inadequate, thus lowering their self-esteem and preventing them from fulfilling their fullest potential. 



As part of the agency’s CSR efforts, Grey Group Malaysia, together with Persatuan Dyslexia Malaysia (Dyslexia Association Malaysia), aims to create a greater awareness and understanding of dyslexia, so as to eliminate negative misconceptions or labels often placed on dyslexic children. While each dyslexic child may have his own set of learning difficulties, it is important to note that with proper treatment, patience and encouragement, especially from parents and teachers, dyslexic children will be able to overcome their condition. 


It is often thought that those diagnosed with dyslexia are hindered from making progress by their disability. However, it has been observed that dyslexic children do particularly well in the creative field and are very good problem solvers. In fact, there are numerous famous people who have overcome dyslexia and have excelled in their field of work. 

Taking inspiration from famous dyslexic personalities such as the “genius” Albert Einstein, singer and songwriter, John Lennon as well as painter and art icon Pablo Picasso, Grey Group Malaysia developed a campaign featuring dyslexic professional illustrator and artist, Vince Low to that centered on the message “Dyslexia didn’t stop them”, highlighting how these icons have succeeded despite being dyslexic. 

The campaign highlights Vince’s creative approach in turning seemingly messy doodles and cluttered scribbles into stunning portraits of famous icons.
