Fashion line founded by F1 driver urges the harried star to ‘stop and smell the roses’ in film from Miniac and director Michael Spiccia

Director Michael Spiccia and production company Miniac have joined forces to create a lyrically surreal short film for Enchanté, a clothing brand founded by F1 racing star Daniel Ricciardo. Titled 'Smell the Roses', it stars Kristen Bell and is set in a resplendent French hotel restaurant.

The frivolous short features the actress in dual roles playing two versions of herself, which end up in a friendly and comforting confrontation -- resulting in a magically new world unfolding around the actor. The film broke on Ricciardo and Enchanté’s IG feeds.

We first see Bell striding across the lobby with a furrowed brow, juggling two phone calls, one from a distraught friend, the other is her attempt to track down her luggage, which has gone missing. As her frustration mounts, she’s approached by a calmer, more relaxed version of herself, clad in a peach-colored Enchanté outfit, urging her to “stop and smell the roses.”

Ricciardo approached Spiccia and Miniac to develop a film concept and script starring Bell for a seasonal drop Enchanté is releasing in June. The brand is known for their self-produced and social focused content.

“When Daniel approached me about making a short film for Enchanté, I was immediately drawn to the idea of merging this sort of banal world with surreal touches that draw on Enchanté’s relaxed but inspired ethos,” says Spiccia. “Collaborating with Miniac and my innovative creative team was a total blast. Miniac was really masterful at facilitating an incredible crew and team and working full-throttle.”

Miniac, who produces special projects for Spiccia and has a long history working with brands like Enchanté, was excited about the opportunity because they encourage their clients to bring directors in early to the creative process, often developing concepts and scripts in partnership with creative teams and brands.

“Miniac specializes in embracing unconventional projects that showcase how successful director-led creative can be,” said executive producer, Stephen Roesler. “When Daniel Ricciardo asked us for a brand story wrapped inside a short film, we knew Michael Spiccia could give the viewer a seat at the table by playing with the real-life frisson between friends, Kristen Bell and Daniel Ricciardo. He cleverly cut them loose in a playful fantasy that embodies the fun and irony of Enchanté. Thanks to Michael’s talent and that of the cast and crew, this was a successful project creatively as well as from a sales perspective for Enchanté.”
