Imagine if your mum took her secret recipe for your favourite dish and used it to create a global fast food chain behemoth? From hipster pop-up to hyper-franchised world domination, this Ian Pons Jewell-directed spot for Goodby Silverstein & Partners tells that story, and composer Philip Kay helped bring it to life with his vibrant score.
Talking about his approach Philip Kay said: “I wanted to create a very intimate European folk sounding motif - something which, like the recipe, feels as though it’s been handed down through generations; something very honest and homely feeling - and have it mutate into something huge, monstrous and orchestral.
"That style of European folk is a great tool to score a film like this - it’s so full of character and charm. It’s a sound and style that I love and that’s influenced by composers like Nino Rota and all the great Italian music they use in Curb Your Enthusiasm. It’s a lot of fun to play, and even more fun to take those ideas and let them spiral into this kind of unstoppable, machine-like force."
