KFC ‘Bun-Less Burger of Dreams’ Double Down Available for 21 Days
KFC has confirmed the critically acclaimed, award-winning Double Down makes its long-awaited return to the menu from Monday 2nd July with an integrated campaign from Mother, Blue 449, freuds and Iris.
The Double Down was heralded as a revolutionary ‘game changer’, the ‘bun-less burger of dreams’ features crispy bacon, melted cheese and barbeque sauce, all sandwiched between two Original Recipe chicken fillets. But to keep things fresh, the news is bitter-sweet, as the chicken aficionados confirm the Double Down will only be available in restaurants for 21 days. That’s just 504 hours, 30,240 minutes and 1,814,400 seconds.

The countdown, iconic Double Down and glitch visual are used extensively across marketing of the Double Down’s return. In a UK advertising first, linear TV will feature the live countdown highlighting how long the Double Down is available in the UK. Fans can also keep checking-in with to find out how long is left to snap up a delicious Double Down. The UK public have been whipped up into a frenzy of anticipation, with hints and clues spread through social media in advance of the launch with host of content with influencers and partnership with Unilad.
Double Down mania spread quickly through the UK and Ireland last October, with many fans queuing outside restaurants to get their hands on one. At its peak, one Double Down was sold every second, with over two and a half million Double Downs sold in the six weeks it was available, rocketing the burger to the fastest selling KFC burger of all time.
Last year the burger was most popular with the South East with nearly half a million burgers sold in this area alone. Despite that, it was KFC in Plymouth Crown Hill which holds the record for opening week sales with nearly 2,500 burgers eaten in the first week, that’s just over 36 every hour.
