Provocative new films created by adam&eveDDB featuring A-listers including Keira Knightley, Vivienne Westwood and Lily Cole have been released to urge people to use their vote in the EU referendum. They have been directed by acclaimed director Anton Corbijn.
Recent polls showed that only 50% of under-35s plan to vote, despite younger generations being most profoundly affected by the outcome.
The videos are titled ‘Five seconds’ and are designed to highlight the short amount of time required to vote, in comparison to the long term impact of the result on people’s future.
The films showcase the individuals’ playful side - with each performing an activity that takes five seconds, whilst delivering a provocative message to drive engagement in the democratic process - ‘Don’t let others f**k with your future’.
Eliza Doolittle and Big Narstie are also among individuals to release films today, while more stars are lined up to release their own versions right up until June 23rd.
Lily Cole said: "I was concerned to see how low the voter turnout levels are anticipated to be amongst young people, who will arguably be most affected by this decision. I’ve also been frustrated by the divisive and negative nature of much of the campaigning... So we wanted to do a neutral and positive campaign to encourage people to get involved, and make their opinions known.’="
The films are a collaboration between adam&eveDDB and high profile individuals.
James Murphy, CEO at adam&eveDDB, said: "The ‘Five Seconds For Your Future’ is a simple call to action. Get out and vote on June 23rd because the results will affect us all for the next generation."
