As any parent knows, children just love to ask ‘why’, often more than 300 times a day. The new campaign for Thomas & Friends and Brave celebrates that endless curiosity. Directed by Thomas Thomas' Karen Cunningham, the spot focuses on those every day conversations that anyone who spends a lot of time with children will recognise.
Great casting was central to the spot and director Karen worked with families all over the country, shooting them in their favourite environments to create a real sense of authenticity. As a director Karen is known for really bringing children's performances to life by encouraging them to use their own imagination and language to shape the spot. Cunningham "immediately loved the script as it was not about the toys or the product, but about the imagination and how creative play shapes the people that children become".
Karen Cunningham has an extensive body of work including Cannes-winning ‘Imagine the Possibilities’ and ‘Dream Gap’ for Barbie as well as spots for Uncle Ben's, Unicef, Save the Children and the Ad Council.
