JWT New York's Two New ECDs

Anomaly's Andy Carrigan & Jon Vast appointed

JWT New York's Two New ECDs

JWT New York announced today the appointment of Anomaly’s Andy Carrigan and Jon Zast as Executive Creative Directors.

A highly respected and awarded creative team, Carrigan and Zast will lead the creative direction on the agency’s Macy’s account while contributing across other brands, adding senior bench strength to the creative department.

At Anomaly, Carrigan and Zast served as a Global Group Creative Director team, managing all creative duties worldwide for Diageo’s Captain Morgan rum brand, as well as Budweiser and the NBC Sports Network. The duo first teamed up at Wieden + Kennedy New York in 2004, working on ESPN, Nike and Sharp Electronics. They have received every major industry accolade, from The One Show to the ANDY awards to the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. They will report to Jeff Benjamin, Chief Creative Officer of JWT North America.

“Andy and Jon represent a dying breed of creative that has the ability to listen to the needs of a brand, find its soul, and then share it with the world in ways that genuinely matter to consumers,” said Benjamin. "Working with them has been on my Christmas list for years — so thank you, Santa.”

Carrigan is a highly awarded creative whose work has been recognized in the industry over the past 18 years for brands such as Nike, ESPN, MINI Cooper, MTV, Miller Brewing Company and Captain Morgan Rum. Prior to Anomaly, he was a writer at some of the top creative companies in the world, including Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Wieden + Kennedy and MTV. With experience writing sketch promos for the MTV Movie Awards and the VMAs, and creating campaigns for top athletes and celebrities, Carrigan’s work is consistently entertaining and often blurs the lines between advertising and entertainment.

"I’m psyched to be able to work for an incredibly talented guy like Jeff Benjamin and hopefully keep helping clients make interesting breakthrough work," said Carrigan.

After training as an architect, Zast worked in the field for six years, and then transitioned to advertising at Wieden + Kennedy New York in 2003, where he could pursue his interest in the intersection of media, architecture and design as an art director. During his time at Wieden, he worked with ESPN, Sharp and Nike on everything from the design of television showrooms to banner ads. One of the first creative hires at Anomaly in 2007, Zast helped grow the agency’s creative department from a team of three to a team of 40 and touched nearly every client that passed through the agency’s doors during his tenure. His work spans categories and disciplines, and includes Coca-Cola, Converse and Umbro. Zast was promoted to Global Group Creative Director and paired up with Carrigan when he joined Anomaly in 2009 to lead the Captain Morgan relaunch.

“We are excited about the opportunity to work on some of the big, iconic, interesting brands in JWT's roster,” added said Zast. “It's not often you get chances to wrap your arms around the type of assignments that are headed our way, and the potential to do breakthrough work feels like a real possibility. There is some great momentum at the agency right now, and we are excited to keep that going.”
