JWT Asia Pacific CEO Tom Doctoroff today announced that Junghwan Kim has been promoted to role of Managing Director of JWT Korea.
He replaces JongWoo Park, who is leaving advertising to pursue a leadership role at a media company after 26 years in the industry, including five years with JWT.
Kim, who has been with JWT for nine years, has managed some of the agency’s largest accounts, including Korea Ginseng & Tobacco, Shinhan Bank, and Shinhan Securities. He started his career in 1994 at Hancomm, the Hanwha Group’s in house agency, and later moved to MBC ADcom. He joined JWT in 2004 as an account director.
“Junghwan is a team builder. He is warm and extroverted. He is a collaborator. He believes in people and to wants to make his team happy. He knows the local advertising landscape inside and out, and has skillfully led many of our largest clients,” said Doctoroff. “He is the right person to lead JWT Korea, and I’m thrilled that we found the talent we needed within our own agency. It’s a testament to the strength of the people we have driving our agency in Seoul.”
I’d like to thank J.W. for his efforts in strengthening JWT Korea over the last five years. He has helped deepen our reputation as a strong, independent agency in Korea, which is a unique and complex market that’s historically been dominated by in-house agencies of the chaebols,” added Doctoroff.
Kim’s appointment is effective immediately.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this new role. The Korean market is evolving at a rapid pace, and I look forward to collaborating with our network and our partner companies in Korea to create truly innovative solutions that meet our clients’ needs,” said Kim.
