A mix of technology and conceptual thinking plays a large role in Mert’s work kept hidden under captivating storytelling and strong attention to CG craft. Looking for new challenges, Mert joined forces with VFX powerhouse Juice at the start of 2022.
Juice develops its roster based on diversity – where the common thing of the directors is an understanding of live-action and heavy CGI process. Turkish-born, Los Angeles-based. Mert has a solid background in fine arts and mixed media, “I’ve always been attracted to the sound and music. My first step into filmmaking was studying cel animation. Now, I'm absolutely thrilled to unite with Juice and its community of fellow filmmakers. They collectively create outstanding work for interesting clients and I'm more than ready to start creating alongside them,” says Mert Kizilay.
His interest in other mediums expanded rapidly to experimenting with different materials, different animation techniques, digital art, live-action, stop-motion, composing, you name it he tried it. Initial three years of experience in the motion design industry, got him recognition, awards and drove him into the direction of Los Angeles, where for the past few years he progressed from a young generalist to creative director. He specialises in designing & animating the opening titles for feature films and TV series – Tomb Raider (2018), Robocop (2014), Mile 22 (2018), Defiance (2013) to name a few.
“I’m excited to add someone of Mert’s caliber, with such an incredible CGI skillset, to our roster. He’s a great fit and we are already looking forward to the things we can deliver together,” says the CEO of Juice Adam Tunikowski.
