FCB Chicago announced that Juan Woodbury has joined the agency as EVP, director of branded content and entertainment. In this newly created role, Juan will be responsible for founding a branded content and entertainment practice within FCB. While he will report directly to chief creative officer, Andrés Ordóñez, his hybrid role will extend across the entire agency – influencing creative, production and the business at large.
“This role will be transformational in terms of the type of work we can produce for our clients,” said Andrés. “Juan thinks about things differently than a traditional creative and has incredible experience understanding how content works across different platforms. By bringing this fresh thinking to the creative process – from ideation all the way through production – we are going to significantly elevate our creative end product.”
Juan will influence creative across branded entertainment, platform-specific content and experiential activations. Specifically, he will partner with business leads to identify client opportunities for longer-form, entertainment-based content, as well as creative opportunities that exist within all key platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, etc. In a departure from most branded content roles, he will also lead teams in the execution and production of their ideas on each platform and across all entertainment and experiential activations.
“My goal is to bring advertising and entertainment together,” said Juan. “It’s more than just setting up partnerships, it’s about joining forces between the agency and clients to create what the consumer really wants to see and to execute impactful work that is entirely different from anything that’s been done before. It’s a new way of communicating and sharing a brand’s message. I’m beyond excited for this opportunity at FCB and cannot wait to begin creating great content and experiences.”
Prior to joining FCB, Juan was an executive producer for Leo Burnett for more than 20 years, producing iconic, award-winning broadcast work for clients including Coca-Cola, Nintendo, McDonald’s, Disney, Morgan Stanley, P&G and Allstate. Juan also founded Humankind Experiential (HKX), Leo Burnett’s experiential marketing division. HKX has gone on to execute events for clients including award-winning work like 'Kraft Now, Pay Later', 'New York Writes Itself' and Kevin Hart’s HartBeat Weekend, which included stand-up shows by Hart and others, and a concert by Drake.
Juan has many creative passions, including videography, design, photography and music production. He has produced and remixed tracks for award-winning international artists and has worked as a DJ for premium events. Through his production company, Bento Entertainment, Juan produced 'Birds of a Feather', a feature film starring Snoop Dogg and Iza Lach.
