“Shape, silhouette and volume, the beauty of the bare bones of clothing stripped back to its essence – a world charged with emotion and human connection.” Sarah Burton
In October 2020, Alexander McQUEEN, the seminal British fashion house, approached Jonathan Glazer and Academy, to create a bespoke film for the Spring Summer 21 collection. Inspired by the brand’s history, Jonathan worked closely with Sarah Burton, creative director, to create a film that is grounded in the eternal, beating heart of London, the River Thames.
“While the effects of Covid-19 have had a serious impact on almost all industries, a small silver lining for us was being able to develop a film with the inspirational team at Alexander McQueen for their S/S 21 collection. This unique and beautiful project was a dream-like ending to a strange year.” Medb Riordan, executive producer, Academy.
