This powerful spot for BT with Saatchi & Saatchi and Prodigious demonstrates the director’s technical skill by combining emotional live action with VFXand game-world footage, which was created in a bespoke & unique way, specifically for the film alongside EA.
In Chris’ own words: “It was an exciting challenge working with EA and FIFA on the Hope United project. I’ve not had the chance to work in animation or motion capture before, so it was liberating seeing just how much we could do. It was an fun experience directing animated celebrities, they're not nearly as fussy as their real life counterparts. In all seriousness Trent was great to work with and keen to experiment and try whatever we felt would elevate the piece.
Emotion was at the forefront of the creative so it all came down to nailing the game work. Giving it a darkness that we hadn’t seen before in a bright, colourful video game like FIFA, creating intense performances from the character and using the camera to ramp up the tension”
Johnny Foreigner commented: ‘The combination of VFX mastery along with emotive storytelling is a powerful skillset which Chris has brought to bear on this important film.’
