Halpern has been appointed to handle the UK public relations for both John Frieda and Bioré following a competitive pitch this summer. The new partnership will officially commence on 1st January 2019 and marks both brand’s conscious effort to implement change. Japanese beauty group KAO own both brands and sees 2019 as an opportunity to transform how it markets and communicates the power of both the John Frieda and Bioré brands.
Halpern was originally contacted by the KAO team following the success of its work with a number of start-up beauty businesses, showcasing its ability to further develop existing, established brands and also build new brands with original, innovative thinking.
Louise Yankovic-Jenkins, UK marketing director at KAO, says: “From the moment we met the Halpern team we knew that we shared the same passion and drive to succeed in the ever-changing beauty landscape. Our decision to appoint a new team was not taken lightly as we have been with our current agency for almost 20 years but 2019 feels like the year we need to start acting differently. We were intrigued by Halpern’s positioning - delivering Fame & Fortune and at the pitch we were impressed by how they took a truly holistic view of stakeholder influence, bringing together powerful creative and commercial ideas. Together we are excited to embrace the future, taking the John Frieda and Bioré brands to new heights.”
Jenny Halpern Prince, founder of Halpern comments: “To say we’re thrilled is an understatement. As an agency we’ve followed both the John Frieda and Bioré brands and when we got the call to pitch, we couldn’t wait to get started. It has been such a positive process which is a reflection of the how the KAO team operate, and we cannot wait to call them our partners. We have an established and growing beauty and wellbeing division and this win is a true reflection of the talent and ambition we have as a team.”
