Timed with the annual Johannesburg Pride Festival taking place in South Africa this past weekend, Johannesburg Ballet Company has released the latest film in its mini-ballet series #BiteSizeBallet, which aims to take ballet out of the dance studio and theatre and into popular culture.
The Johannesburg Gay Pride festival (Africa’s first and largest) inspired the Johannesburg Ballet Company to join the conversation and address the issue of LGBTQ rights.
This latest spot shines a spotlight on the anti-LGBTQ laws of many African countries, and supported the event where many South Africans put their safety and freedom at risk to come together and show support for the LGBTQ community.
The recently launched #BiteSizeBallet campaign, created by TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris, is an ongoing series of little ballets inspired by the big, trending stories of the moment. Each ballet is beautifully documented in a short film, which is then fed back into the online conversation as quickly as possible.
