Duo will build a social studio that closes the gap between strategy and creative production

Independent UK creative company Wonderhood Studios has announced the launch of its social-first content studio (January 2023) which will complement its existing specialisms in advertising, television and data insight.

Wonderhood Makers will bring together cultural insights, social strategy, and content  production through a network of new hybrid creative talent. The studio will provide an agile,  non-linear approach to campaign development and execution, and a tailor-made offering for clients.

Jo and Katie will co-found the new studio and bring together over 20 years of expertise in the social, PR and content space. Jo founded and launched We Are Social Studios in 2018; a standalone production department specialised in creating multi-platform content for We Are Social’s roster of global brands. Under Jo’s leadership, the division successfully grew into a multi-million-pound business unit, producing content for brands such as adidas, Audi, LEGO, Vodafone, Dr Martens, Guinness, Pepsi and Meta. Jo was named in The Drum’s 50 under 30 in 2018, Campaign’s Agency Star Player in 2021 and has won numerous industry awards including BIMA, The Drum Social Buzz, The Webbys, Lovies and Digiday. Jo regularly contributes to industry thought pieces, formed part of the BIMA creative council, and served as a Cannes Lions Juror 2020/21 for Film Craft.

After moving into the world of social and influencer marketing from consumer PR, Katie has worked at agencies PrettyGreen and OMD UK and, since 2018, has led the social content and influencer offering of Accenture Song (formerly Karmarama) growing the agency’s earned, owned and paid capabilities to create award-winning work for clients including The British Army, Institute of Coding, NCS, Arla and Plusnet. Katie was one of Management Today’s 35 Under 35 in 2022, and is a founding member of Ok Mentor, a mentoring and coaching initiative to get more women into creative industries. Her work there as well as with entry level talent at Karmarama won her Campaign’s Female Frontiers Mentor of the Year in the  same year.

“This is a really challenging but equally exciting time for clients when it comes to navigating  the online world and making a genuine impact. With so much innovation in the marketplace and the growth of Web3, I’m looking forward to working with Jo on shaping a studio that will address some of these challenges head on, and through doing things a bit differently - something that Wonderhood has always prided itself on - get some great work out there”,  Katie.

“Wonderhood Makers provides a unique offering to clients through an intrinsic understanding of all campaign touchpoints at founder level. By bringing this expertise to all briefs at ideation stage, nothing is an afterthought. Our mission is to help brands drive fame in the feed, and  our tailor-made approach means we can do this in a meaningful way”, Jo.

The new studio will develop its own social-first client roster and augment Wonderhood’s existing television and advertising offering, helping clients to understand the fast-paced,  ever-changing cultural landscape.

“We are thrilled that Jo and Katie are joining Wonderhood to launch our fourth studio. There is a fantastic energy to the work they do and we look forward to building new relationships with ambitious brands that are looking to elevate their social content. In addition, the new studio will help to amplify the cultural impact we deliver as a creative agency, and a generator of globally valuable IP. Wonderhood’s unique neighbourhood of talent just got  bigger” said David Abraham, group CEO, Wonderhood Studios.
