ITV have released a message of support for the England team following racial abuse against players after Euro 2020 defeat.
The black and white image shows England players taking the knee accompanied by the powerful copy: ‘Together we will never lose. ITV Stand with England’.
ITV will post this statement across social media and run the image as a press ad across all national newspapers tomorrow (Tuesday 13th July) — showing their support for the England team.
Players and officials started taking the knee to highlight racial inequality and discrimination. England choose to take the knee prior to every game played in the championship.
The work was created in partnership with Uncommon Creative Studio and turned around within 24 hours. The studio previously worked with the broadcaster running an anti-racism ad last year, in support of dance group Diversity, following complaints about its Black Lives Matter-themed performance on Britain’s Got Talent. The print ad showed Ashley Banjo taking the knee with the copy: “We are changed by what we see. Just as we are changed when we are seen. ITV Stand with Diversity.”
