The ten-week online course covers strategic environment, financial toolkit and human elements
The IPA has teamed up with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to bring its online MBA Essentials certificate course to its membership at a discounted price. The new tie-up aims to help agencies equip themselves with the invaluable business, financial, strategic and leadership skills to help grow both their own and their clients’ businesses.

The agreement forms one of the core tenets of IPA president Nigel Vaz’s presidential agenda to transform agencies into being the indispensable partners for growth that their clients need. In recognition of strained and straightened times, the IPA hopes that this new offering to its suite of qualifications* will provide a cost-effective, time-conscious opportunity for agencies to achieve this by enhancing the commercial acumen of their core players, delivered by a world-renowned business school.

The ten-week online certificate course consists of 8-12 hours of learning per week delivered by flexible modules. It covers the strategic environment, the financial toolkit and the human element. Upon completion, the adland candidate should walk away with:

• MBA-focused skills that address the core pillars of business: strategy, finance, and people, guided by thought leaders and LSE experts.
• The ability to make informed business decisions, and lead with confidence and influence in their contemporary business context.
• A better understanding of their business environment and challenges to enhance their organisation’s (and their clients’) competitive advantage.
• A network of global professionals and a certificate of competence from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

IPA president, Nigel Vaz, commented: “This is possibly the best time for this tie-up with LSE to come to fruition because clients are searching for ways to survive. To do so, they need a partner that can help them re-shape their now and reimagine what is next. This means more than just responding to client briefs. They need agencies to be able to help identify business opportunities and work with them to help shape them into something that will add meaningful and lasting value.”

Dr Connson Locke, course convenor and professorial lecturer in management, LSE department of management, added: “The MBA Essentials online course will equip students with the critical skills to be effective managers and organisational leaders in the 21st century. The course will enable them to improve their understanding of their own organisation and think differently to make improved business decisions."

IPA members and non-members can claim up to 15% discount on the LSE MBA Essentials Online Certificate course which will also provide four stars towards the IPA MIPA pathway. The start date for the next course will be November 2020. Find out more from the IPA MBA Essentials page. The IPA will also be running a webinar about the course in the upcoming weeks - more details to follow.
