Instagram Appoints Global Head of Business & Brand Development

Leaves role as Facebook’s European Regional Director

Instagram Appoints Global Head of Business & Brand Development

Instagram has appointed James Quarles as Global Head of Business and Brand Development. In this role he will be responsible for building a broad set of solutions for brands of all sizes on Instagram and for the overall growth of the business.

James has been working in Europe for the past 10 years, most recently as Regional Director for Facebook, building fast growing businesses in France, Italy, the Benelux and Iberia.  He has also served as executive sponsor for several of Facebook’s largest global marketing relationships. James’ international experience with the largest brands and agencies, his success in structuring and hiring high performing teams and his passion for visual storytelling strongly qualify him for this important role.

James and his family will relocate from London to Menlo Park and he’ll officially begin his new role at Instagram this fall.

Kevin Systrom commented: “I’ve gotten to know James over the last several months and I’m impressed by his leadership, his energy, and his experience. He has worked closely with the top brands in the world, he’s built a fantastic team globally, and most important, he understands the Instagram community, our values, and our goals for marketers on the platform. I can’t wait to have him join the team here in Menlo Park.”

James Quarles commented: “Instagram is an important and special place, a daily source of inspiration and expression.  I’m excited to work with Kevin and the team to develop valuable ways for brands and businesses to engage with the community.  An important part of this process will require us to be thoughtful about how brands contribute to the experience, while driving meaningful results for marketers around the world.”
