Producer Debora Navarro-Levesque gives the inside scoop on her favourite project and the most interesting job she’s ever had

Welcome to DENTSU CREATIVE US's employee spotlight series, where the team showcases the exceptional talent from across the company. Meet producer Debora Navarro-Levesque.

We spent some time with Debora to learn about her biggest career accomplishment, what inspires her and how her job is uniquely creative.

Q> How is your job uniquely creative?

Debora> I like to learn and try new things. Adapting and not having the same project repeatedly fits perfectly with that. Plus, building friendships and relationships with vendors proves that being a social butterfly when I was younger is paying off.

Q> How would you explain your job to a small child?

Debora> I'm the person that makes people's ideas (or commercials) come to life. I make sh*t happen.

Q> Tell us about your career path.

Debora> I have a master's degree in painting and worked as a project manager at an embroidery company for hats and garments. On a whim I applied for random jobs in New York City and was offered a job. It was for an integrated production associate. It introduced me to digital, print, and broadcast production and from there I just kept going.

Q> Tell us about your favourite project you’ve worked on and why?

Debora> There was a new business pitch that an executive producer was working on, and she overheard the creative team brainstorming on how they could bring in puppets that were dressed and propped like the characters they were ideating for the pitch. I have been known to bring side projects, (like my daughter’s Halloween costumes to work on during lunch breaks of course), so she immediately thought of me as being a person to help bring that to life. I sourced and handmade all the props and clothes for each of the puppets. From painting and reweaving fabric on a child’s size folding chair to sewing a toddler sized fur coat. And did it all under budget!

Q> What is your biggest career accomplishment thus far?

Debora> I won a B2B award for a holiday video I made at my old agency. It was a stop motion video that I made the props for, edited, and created with my coworker.

Q> What advice would you give to your younger self?

Debora> Drink more water and wear the damn sunscreen.

Q> What was the most interesting job you’ve ever had?

Debora> I worked for a government contractor that I needed a secret clearance for and worked in a secure room. That was as interesting as it got though.

Q> What is your secret superpower?

Debora> I can draw or make just about anything. I am crafty like a fox.

Q> Have you ever met anyone famous?

Debora> I have met a fair amount of famous people but, Gwen Stefani has been my idol since going to a No Doubt concert when I was in middle school. A few years ago, I was able to get a photo with her. My face and smile in that photo is happier than any photo I have with my husband or child.

Q> What is your theme song?

Debora> Sunday morning by No Doubt is up there.

Q> One thing that makes you happy?

Debora> Ice cream, walking around Ikea, sales at Joann fabrics. That is more than one thing but really, how do you narrow it down?

Q> What is something that inspires you?

Debora> I am an artist, I see everything differently and it all inspires me.
