Executive assistant Nikki Langford reinvented herself with a marketing career path

In Conversation with DENTSU CREATIVE US’ Nikki Langford

Nikki Langford’s super sparkly personality has made team members feel seen and appreciated, from new hires to seasoned C-suite execs. Now the executive assistant shares how being nominated for a dentsu Creative Champion made her feel the same.

Q> How would you explain your job to a small child?

Nikki> It's like racing bumper cars, constantly bouncing around looking for the finish line.

Q> Tell us about your career path?

Nikki> I worked in healthcare for a long time before switching gears. It was time to reinvent myself, and I took a leap of faith and landed on both feet. Best move I've ever made.

Q> What advice would you give your younger self?

Nikki> Dream big! The sky's the limit.

Q> What is something that inspires you?

Nikki> Music - it's the key to life.

Q> What’s the most interesting job you’ve had?

Nikki> I once had a temp position where I stood outside Madison Square Garden handing out hockey flyers in the middle of winter. Yep, that was VERY temporary!

Q> What was your dream job when you were younger?

Nikki> I wanted to be a lawyer because my mom always said I had a big mouth. I used to respond and tell her the mouth is made to talk, lol.

Q> What TV show are you currently binging?

Nikki> Handmaid's Tale....again!!!!!!

Q> What is your secret superpower?

Nikki> My lips are sealed, it's a secret.

Q> Bucket list item?

Nikki> A trip to Egypt. I have always wanted to see the pyramids because I am still in awe of how they were built.

Q> If you could meet someone famous, who would it be? Or have you already met someone famous?

Nikki> Harriett Tubman, Maya Angelou, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Barack Obama, John McCain, Nelson Mandela … the list goes on and on.

Q> What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

Nikki> Being nominated for Creative Champion. These nominations are typically client facing nominees and because I am considered functions based, it blew me away. I feel seen and appreciated not only for myself but the entire administrative team.

Q> What is your theme song?

Nikki> Happy by Pharrell, this song describes me to a tee. Happy and super sparkly!

Q> One thing that makes you happy?

Nikki> My dog Marleigh makes me the happiest, as well as my entire family.
