Electric Theatre Collective has announced the promotion of VFX supervising legend Iain Murray to joint head of 2D. He’ll be teaming up with Electric’s Ryan Knowles to form one of the industry’s most heavyweight power-couples. Think Gilbert & George, Bert and Ernie, French and Saunders…wait.
Iain boasts 17 years of VFX experience (although you wouldn’t know from his humble demeanour) previously having worked at Glassworks and then MPC. He’s built a reputation by working with the industry’s finest on some of the most notable campaigns of the last 10 years.
Since joining Electric in May 2018, Iain has been integral to the studio's growth and output. He’s also weathered a continual stream of mockery since divulging the story of a very suspect tattoo…Ask him if you see him.
Iain said about his promotion: "The past couple of years at Electric have been incredible, working on some exciting and challenging projects with an absolutely brilliant team."
Giles Cheetham, founding partner and creative director at Electric, comments: “Iain has been such an incredible asset to the company since he joined and having him step up to support Ryan and the entire 2D department is really exciting for us.''
We said we’d sneak an Arsenal reference into this article for him. So to finish, Electric are excited to watch Iain continue to produce insane VFX work whilst nurturing and bringing through the next wave of VFX superstars. Much like Tony Adams did. Except until the lockdown is lifted, we won’t be at the pub.view more - Hires, Wins & Business
