Huge Relaunches Huge Schools with Focus on Underrepresented Identities
Initially founded as a design apprenticeship programme in 2011, Huge Schools has seen 58 out of its 105 alumni become full time Huge employees over the last 10 years, with six still at Huge.
Now in 2021, Huge XD School is back with a renewed equity-centered education purpose, and a belief that diversity of background and perspective are all critical to creating the work environment and the world that we want.
Huge XD School is a paid 10-week accelerated training program in experience design. No educational requirements or formal design training required.
The agency is looking for ambitious, creative people who want to kick start a career in design. The program is based out of Huge Oakland due to the office’s volume of XD work for some of the world’s leading brands, including Google and PlayStation.
Cross-disciplinary leaders from Huge will teach students the foundational concepts and skills of experience design and ultimately how to apply those skills to real-world problems. Students of Huge XD school can expect to:
- Learn the foundationational concepts and skills of Experience Design
- Understand people’s needs and create purposeful solutions
- Work on a professional project end-to-end
- Experience the life and rhythm of a designer at Huge
- Be taught by discipline leaders at Huge
- Have Huge coaches and mentors available to them
The school will begin virtually on June 1st and wrap up on August 13th, 2021. Nine applicants will be notified on April 1st of their acceptance.
After the 10-week paid programme, students may not yet be an expert designer, but they will be able to start their career in design with confidence knowing they have a better understanding of the skills and expectations in the design industry. Also, students may be considered for full-time and/or freelance associate UX designer opportunities at Huge, alongside career opportunities beyond Huge through a hiring consortium with our client partners and the IPG network.
