How Geometry Global Romania Got Rid of Red to Drive Blood Donations

Recently, Geometry Global Romania launched a campaign which raised blood donations by 80% within six weeks.  Collaborating with Observator, the leading prime-time news program on Antena 1, one of Romania’s leading television channels, the agency was able to create a campaign that reached 1.4 million Romanians within four weeks. Romania is the European country with the most critical need for blood donors, and the aim of this campaign was to tackle this issue. 

To illustrate “life without red,” the week-long campaign removed the red component from the television’s screen’s RGC colors for a three-minute news segment on the topic.  The campaign was accompanied by a Facebook campaign where users were encouraged to remove the color red from their profile pictures.

In addition to an increase in blood donations,  33,000 Romanians removed the red from their Facebook profile picture, and the government pledged to increase the 2015 budget for blood donations by 300%.
