Historical Art Genres Blend into Real Life in BMW's ‘Forwardism’ Campaign

Jung Von Matt, Akkurat Studios and Psyop team up on a visually stunning spot for BMW's new i7 model

Historical Art Genres Blend into Real Life in BMW's ‘Forwardism’ Campaign

The latest spot from Jung Von Matt and BMW ‘Forwardism’ which launches their new i7 model was crafted by Akkurat Studios and Psyop, directed by Psyop’s Shane Griffin.

The film traverses design eras as an ode to BMW’s ever-evolving style and quest for excellence in design, technology and luxury.

Psyop director Shane Griffin explains: "Mannerism, impressionism, surrealism. We’re all familiar with historical, genre defining art works. But what is Forwardism? Forwardism depicts the reimagining of convention, transforming what we thought we knew into something new, something we thought was impossible, and yet here it is before our eyes.

"We were challenged to craft visual metaphors of this concept, transforming historical art epochs into works of Forwardism, drawing a parallel to BMW’s re-imagining of what a car should be.

"The i7 - a magnificent work of design, engineering, and craftsmanship, the flagship of Forwardism."

Managing director of Akkurat Studios, Rocco Kopecny comments: "We are delighted to see our first collaboration Psyop’s team out of Berlin come to life. Collaborating with Shane and both talented teams has been a pleasure and we look forward to the next project with them."
