The executive producer at Hornet dives head first into some of the most memorable ads that always stayed at the forefront of her mind

It wasn’t easy trying to think of some of my all-time favourite ads. I tried to come up with a good range of work, but when you’re limited to only five pieces, I thought I'd best not take it too seriously, and share some spots that take up real estate in my mind. Welcome to my brain...

Epuron - 'Power of Wind'

Agency: Nordpol Hamburg
Production: Paranoid Projects LA
Director: The Vikings x Bjorn Rhumann
Post: Mikros Image
Sound: Pigalle Production Paris

Just watch this and tell me it isn’t the most perfect piece of advertising you’ve ever seen...

Sonic - 'Egg'

Agency: Goodby Silverstein & Partners
Director: The Perlorian Brothers

This commercial came out over 10 years ago and it still makes me laugh. Something about the performance of this egg character gets me gigglin’ like no other. I love good, silly advertising, and when brands don’t take themselves too seriously. I love seeing work like this because I can only imagine how fun it was to produce.

EPSN - 'It Can Wait'

Agency: ESPN Creative Works
Production: SMUGGLER
Director: Miles Jay
Post: WORK Editorial x Artjail x Company 3
Online: Blacksmith
Sound: Barking Owl

It’s a tragic story told with a beautiful lens. From start to finish, the story of Fletcher Cleaves sucks you in and takes you on a journey so powerful, it comes into my mind most times I get behind the wheel, and reminds me to turn my 'do not disturb' on. Every aspect of production and post-production was thoughtfully considered, and executed so tastefully. The subject matter is heavy, but the spot doesn’t feel heavy handed - which is extremely hard to do.

Nike - 'What If We Treated All Athletes Like Skateboarders: Joggers'

Agency: Goodby Silverstein & Partners

It’s a perfect example of how a brand listened to and found a way to align itself with a community that the mainstream culture didn’t understand. It felt like then - and still feels like now - one of the only big brand campaigns that I can think of who have attempted to side with the underdog.

Mac Miller - 'Colors & Shapes'

Production: Hornet
Director: Sam Mason

There is so much to love about this music video, from the whimsical world building, art direction, Ralphie the dog’s emotion and technical execution on the CG, ‘Colors & Shapes’ is a standout piece of work. When I asked director Sam Mason about this project, he told me that after Mac’s tragic and sudden passing, his dog Ralphie ran away. My heart ached for everyone who was close to Mac. There’s something so special about the relationship between a person and their dog, and this beautifully executed piece connects you to Mac’s world and, I feel that it is a beautiful statement of his life.
