Today is International Women’s Day. What better day to recognise the incredible work coming out of America led by female creatives, marketers and directors? Obviously great work takes a great team, so shout out to everyone involved, but in the spirit of the day, I’m calling out some of the female creatives I’m seeing on credit lists...
Frida Mom. - 'Stream of Lactation'
Agency: Mekanism
ECD: Laura Wimer. CD: Rachel Carlson ACD: Katie Bourgeois Director: Rachel Morrison
Full disclosure, I know very little about breastfeeding. But thanks to Frida Mom, I now have more of an understanding of the brutal clogged-duct-all-night-pumping-slow-flow-raw-nipple-painfully-latched reality of breastfeeding for new Moms - a topic not often discussedBravo to the team for making such a beautifully honest film that encourages you to care for your breasts, not just your baby. And double bravo to the media team for getting the ad cleared to air during the Golden Globes.
Monogram: OOH
Agency: Mischief USA
Full disclosure, I know very little about appreciating weed (of all the California habits I’ve picked up, avocado toast is the greenest), but I can fully appreciate the latest work for Monogram, Jay-Z’s cannabis brand. The OOH campaign tackles the hypocrisy surrounding marajuana laws. The ads feature striking images of eight people charged with cannabis-related crimes, paired with smart, powerful copy.
Chief x National Women’s History Museum - 'Glass Ceiling Breakers'
Agency: BBH and M ss ng P eces
Creative directors: Liz Loudy and Jackie Anzaldi
Full disclosure, I know a lot about Chief, the female members club. I’m a member. And I’m ridiculously jealous of the Glass Ceiling Breaker activation that BBH did in partnership with Chief and the National Women’s History Museum, celebrating Kamala Harris’ glass shattering moment. A beautiful piece of art, with a smart piece of content attached to it.
e.l.f x Chipotle
e.l.f CMO: Kory Marchisotto
It seems every fast food brand wants to collaborate their way into culture these days and
Chipote’s collab with e.l.f. cosmetics is a fun spin on that. This time around (they partnered last year to create a virtual prom after party) they created a limited edition set consisting of the Chipotle Eyeshadow palette, Make it Hot lip gloss and Extra Guac Face Sponge Set. It’s so weird that it will definitely work. Partnering with Trixie Mattel (winner of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars') to promote it on social? That’s the perfect topping to this burrito of beauty. (Full disclosure: I can’t pull off guac green)
Mtn Dew - 'Happy Little Droplets'
Agency: TBWA\Chiat\Day NY
ECDs: Julia Neumann and Amy Ferguson
Final full disclosure - Mtn Dew’s latest work featuring Bob Ross painting some happy little droplets was made by my colleagues in our New York office. How can you not love a chance to experience the Joy of Painting again? Bob is everything the world needs right now, so I think it’s utterly lovely he’s been reprised in the spot, along with a ‘lost episode’ painting tutorial.
