Hi-Tech Halloween Ghost Gives Trick or Treaters a Spooky Surprise

This year everyone will have to be a bit more creative when it comes to celebrating Halloween tomorrow. To ensure trick-or-treaters maintain a safe social distance this year, MediaMonks Labs put the power of terrifying tech to use to channel the Ghost of Distance Past.

What’s the trick to getting your treats and avoid being haunted? When approaching the door, the spirit measures the distance between you and your fellow trick or treater. Standing too close to each other will trigger a menacing warning, but when a distance of six feet is respected, trick or treaters are momentarily safe to take some candy and run.

Using a combination of technologies such as Intel Realsense, Unity and MadMapper projection software, MediaMonks’ Labs, the content practice’s R&D department, developed this chilling mini-installation that inspires a healthy dose of creativity for the Halloween season.

Using this installation we want to show that there’s a more creative way to remind people how important this is, by giving people a scare when they’re too close and rewarding people who respect the distance.”
