Here's How You Can Be a 'Good Republican' This Election Day

Hungry Man directors Alex Gorosh and Max Joseph put out a PSA ahead of US’ biggest day

Here's How You Can Be a 'Good Republican' This Election Day

Ahead of the much anticipated US election, Hungry Man directors Alex Gorosh and Max Joseph have directed this film for 'Good Republican'.

Commenting on the film, director Max Joseph said: “The election was upon us and I had been jonesing to make this video that took the Follow The Frog vídeo I had made for Rainforest Alliance a couple years ago and do a version of it geared toward undecided republican voters. I had been hatching the idea in my head for awhile but I was also busy working on another project and realised I wouldn’t have time to make this so I called up my old friend and frequent collaborator Alex Gorosh last Monday or Tuesday and asked if he’d be interested in running with it and more and behold he was! I connected him to the original actor Tom Rock from Follow the Frog and luckily he was available so they got together and shot some great material."

Director Alex Gorosh comments: “Good Republicans is a short PSA that we made as a last minute appeal to any conservative voters in the US who were still on the fence about whom to vote for on November 3rd. The film uses the same structure (and actor, and music) as Max's classic short film Follow the Frog, which uses humour and adventure to guide the audience through some topical moral issues. That premise was the perfect starting point for us to make our pitch to any proud Republican who is struggling with the choice of either voting for an ineffective and narcissistic leader or...a Democrat. Our goal was to create something that tackled this issue with levity. We wanted to make something that progressive millennials would feel comfortable sending to their conservative parents.

"Even though our production needs were fairly minimal, the timing was extremely ambitious. Max reached out to me about the project on Wednesday, giving us only five days to write, shoot, edit and share the video before the election on the following Tuesday. I brought in Josh Meyers to help with the script and we got to work. Fortunately the star of the film, Tim Rock, was available to film with us on Friday. Then after some late nights, it was ready to share early Monday morning.

"It’s been heartening to see the film spread like it has. Hopefully it has reached the handful of swayable republicans that we need to turn some of these battleground states blue. This is such an important election, I was thrilled that Max brought me into this project to add our voice to the national conversation."
