Heinz is followed by PFAFF Harley Davidson in second place, and the non-profit Canadian Women's Foundation in third

Heinz has emerged as Canada's most successful advertiser based on its performance at international and national awards shows in 2022 as ranked by the Institute of Canadian Agencies' Creative Power List. You can view the list here.

This marks the first time that the ICA has expanded the rankings beyond agencies to also embrace the performance of the nation's leading brands.

In the full list of 100 brand owners, Heinz is followed by PFAFF Harley Davidson in second place, and the non-profit Canadian Women's Foundation in third.

The methodology of the brand list, closely following that of the agency rankings, was compiled by the ICA's Creative Power Group, alongside leading audit, tax, and consulting firm, Grant Thornton LLP.

Completing the top ten most-awarded brands in Canada are non-profit Over the Bridge in fourth place, IKEA, Good Fortune, Canadian Down Syndrome Society, White Ribbon, Black & Abroad, and the National Magazine Awards Foundation.

While six of the top ten are non-profit organizations, Heinz was ranked a convincing first due to the success of activity including the design led 'Pour Perfectly' work for Heinz Ketchup, created in partnership with Rethink. The agency also created the Heinz 'Ketchup A.I.' initiative.

The Creative Power List is based only on the performance of brands at the major awards shows, four of which are international together with the same number of national events. These are Cannes Lions, CLIO, D&AD and The One Show among international award schemes, and ADCC Awards, CMA Awards, Effie Awards Canada, and Marketing Awards in Canada.

The expansion of the List to also cover brands follows the recent announcement of the agency Creative Power List 2023. Rethink topped the rankings, with Zulu Alpha Kilo in second and Bensimon Byrne ranked third.

Scott Knox, President and CEO of the ICA, said: "The ICA's Creative Power List provides the first ranking of individual brand performance based on a transparent analysis of success at the international and national awards shows that really matter. With all the evidence pointing to awarded creative work bringing much stronger business outcomes for brands, this performance has never been more important."
