Have You Got An Idea That Could Help Change The World?
CHANGE THE WORLD WITH TWO SIDES OF A4 PAPER
Cannes Lions has teamed up with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to create a competition to solve a communications challenge that the world is facing: the Grand Challenge for Communications - http://bit.ly/wLIF5C
THE TOPIC: AID IS WORKING. TELL THE WORLD
The brief: Many people in the developed world are aid weary. They know billions of dollars go into aid, and yet the problems never seem to go away. This leads them to question if the money ever gets to where it is needed, and even then, if it is used wisely. The media seems full of stories of corruption, waste and broken systems.
But that’s not the whole story. Effective aid programs help developing countries become self-sufficient. They do not replace those countries’ efforts, but rather support the important work that’s already under way.
The brief is completely open. Just write your idea down on a maximum of two pages

INTRODUCING CANNES CHIMERA
This autumn, up to ten finalists of the challenge will be awarded $100,000 to further develop their idea. Then Cannes Lions will fly these finalists to Seattle to attend a special ‘university’ with the Cannes Chimera.
Made up of the Grand Prix winners from last year's Cannes Lions, the Cannes Chimera is possibly the greatest collection of creative talent ever assembled. In Seattle, the Chimera will work with the finalists for two days on further developing their ideas. It's a great opportunity to work with the brightest talent in the industry.
After Seattle, the finalists will have one opportunity to apply for a follow-on grant of up to one million dollars to help make the idea a reality. In June 2013, winners are invited back to Cannes Lions to present how they changed the world with their idea.
