The creative agency has been re-appointed as creative and strategy lead for the DFE’s teacher recruitment business following a competitive pitch

Creative agency Havas London has retained the UK Government’s Department for Education teacher recruitment business after a competitive pitch. The pitch was part of the government’s compulsory roster process that requires agencies to re-pitch every four years and will see Havas London evolve its award-winning campaign ‘Every Lesson Shapes a Life’.

The contract, worth over £8m, retains the agency for a further four years and was run through the Crown Commercial Service Campaign Solutions framework. It follows Havas London’s hugely successful work in the market which outperformed on all its key performance metrics; including almost 200,000 new teacher registrations in the last recruitment cycle, and a pride in teaching score that rose over 10% - a 100% increase on the target set at the start of the contract.

The Kings Cross agency has been tasked with continuing its vital work in teacher recruitment at a crucial time of change and challenge in the graduate market, with the first work appearing this September and a larger brand campaign due in September 2023. The impact of Covid in recent years, and wholesale changes to the world of work, underscore the importance of raising the visibility and impact of a career in teaching. The appointment is an endorsement of Havas London’s proven track record in inspiring a new generation of teachers into the profession.

Chloe Saklow, deputy director of teacher recruitment for The Department for Education says: "We are thrilled to reappointment Havas London to continue their fantastic work on the Get into Teaching campaign and Teaching brand. They share our unwavering passion for, and commitment to, recruiting more teachers to help change children’s lives. We’re looking forward to continuing the journey together."

Britt Iversen, executive strategy officer for Havas London, adds: “We are so proud to have been re-appointed to a vitally important brief. The world of work, and teaching, has experienced dramatic change in the last few years, and it has been a real privilege to lead our brilliant team on a significantly-evolved strategic approach to ensure we continue to recruit new teachers into a profession that shapes young lives – we can’t wait to get stuck in now.”
