Agency scoops seven ICAD Bells and Best Client for Hailo at Institute of Creative Advertising and Design awards

Guns or Knives Wins Big at ICAD awards

Last night the ICAD awards celebrated creative excellence in Irish advertising and design. Held at Vicar St, Dublin, the annual awards saw activations agency, Guns or Knives (part of the Rothco group) collect seven Bells, including one gold bell, three silver bells and three bronze bells. As a result, their client, Hailo, also collected the prestigious ICAD client of the year award.

Guns or Knives had worked with Hailo since their first consumer launch in 2012, and have since produced work globally for the brand. Commenting on Hailo’s award win Róisín Field, Client Service Director at Guns or Knives says: “Seeing the Hailo team being rewarded is super for us as their agency. We’re all about working in collaboration with our clients and with Hailo, this is a reality. They have a very clear mission. Everything we create together is all driving towards the same-shared vision. Being aligned like this builds trust, which in turn allows us to take risks and answer difficult briefs with a strong hand on creativity. Not every client would hear you out when you show them a concept for a three year old child driving a taxi!”

Following early success at APMC and Kinsale sharks, Guns or Knives were also recognized at the ICAD awards for their Hailo, ‘Drive for Equality’ and ‘3rd Birthday’ campaigns. Including Hailo, the agency work with a number of high profile clients, including: Heineken Ireland (Heineken Light; Desperados; Orchard Thieves; Cute Hoor), AIB, PAUG (UK), GNI, Coke, Sprite, Samsung, Carwow (UK), Honest Burger (UK), DA(ARI), Failte, Dairygold, Tesco and Johnson & Johsnon. With excitement building around recent successes, the agency look next to their first trip to Cannes Lions.

Discussing their presence at the festival, Roisin adds: “We had great success earlier this year picking up five awards for our Hailo work. With these ICAD wins to add to the collections, we’re really looking forward to seeing what Cannes might bring! We have entered our work to the festival for the first time this year and we didn't do that 'just for the craic'! We believe it stands a shot. Success at Cannes will be more than winning an award though - it's about the inspiration we know we're going to feel, the allies we hope to make, and the learnings we'll take away.”
