Grey Tokyo was named Agency of the Year for Japan at the Special Awards, Spikes Asia 2022. They also scored a Glass Spikes and a Grand Prix for Social/Social Influencer for their #PrideHair (Pantene/P&G) campaign and a Grand Prix for the VS Series (SKII) in the Media Category.
Masanori (Masa) Tagaya, CCO Grey Tokyo on winning Glass Spikes and Grand Prix (for #PrideHair (Pantene/P&G): “#Pride Hair is the climax of Pantene Japan’s multi-year effort to change Japan’s job-hunting system that is based on strict uniformity.
“By featuring the experience of two LGBTQ+ former job hunters, we shed light on the cruelness of our job-hunting system that pressures people to hide their true selves. The subject was quite delicate and had many risks to blow up. But the absolute honesty of our LGBTQ+ former job hunters and the strong passion of all the staff involved made it hard to deny. I hope that this great recognition from Spikes will bring more awareness to this subject and fuel the change in our society.
“Being recognised as Agency of the Year for Japan at SPIKES ASIA is an amazing achievement for us and a team effort to which everyone at GREY Tokyo has contributed. We want to continue producing famously effective work which is insightful, has an impact and makes a difference.

Graham Drew CCO GREY Malaysia on winning GOLD and SILVER for ‘Your Plastic Diet’ (WWF) in the Strategy and Effectiveness Category: “Three years ago WWF tasked us with helping them gain enough public action to enable them lobby global governments for a Globally Binding Treaty on Plastics. Yesterday, on March 3rd 2022, that mandate was passed by all member states of UNEA in 'A Historic Day in the Campaign to Beat Plastic Pollution”
It’s extremely rare that what we do has a genuine impact like this. We were a small part of something genuinely, hugely important here.”

Sandipan Bhattacharyya, MD & CCO GREY India: On India winning GOLD spikes (Entertainment) for #PauseThe Bargain (Axis Bank): “We’re particularly delighted with this Gold in Entertainment because it’s a category that defines the future of branded creativity, work that permeates and creates popular culture, giving brands disproportionate growth in the process. That’s what being famously effective is all about.”
