After dropping out of film school with the backing of his tutor - having originally trained to be a cinematographer - Lasse learnt his craft as an assistant camera operator on feature films. He began shooting music videos for small indie bands, with almost no budget and only a set of borrowed lenses. Even so, his first promo was nominated ‘Best Music Video’ at the Nordic Music Video Awards, opening a door into the world of TV and commercials.
Lasse is well-known for his ability to elicit an exceptional performance from actors, as well as his natural understanding of comedic timing - all of which has helped him win a shelf full of awards.
Lasse has been awarded Cannes Silver Lions for his ‘Soon To Be World Famous’ campaign for soda brand Solo, as well as his Stories From Norway for Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis - a musical investigation series that also won at Norway’s annual Gullruten Award Show (the country’s equivalent of the Emmy Awards).
When not directing TV series or adverts, the self-confessed audiophile runs his own small company, Little Fwend, which makes turntable accessories. He also plays in a band, and stays busy sound recording and mixing.
“The use of humour in advertising is proven to be a winning strategy and an area we have wanted to focus more attention on, so we have been on the look out for a great comedy director for a while. We feel like we have that in Lasse so we’re delighted to have him join our roster and can’t wait to get working together,” says Greatcoat founder Simon Oxley.
