British Interactive Media Association today announces its shortlist for the BIMA Awards 2017, celebrating the best work in the UK’s digital industry. Nominated agencies include Google, Karmarama, B-Reel and Cancer Research UK.

The BIMA Awards are the most prestigious and longest standing awards for digital in the UK, recognising excellence in the sector for 33 years. This year’s newly revamped BIMA Awards seeks to recognise the work in the British digital sector that is truly pushing the limits of what is possible, making a difference in business, culture and society, across the entire digital ecosystem.

The winners of the BIMA Awards will be announced on 14th September at an evening of ‘tech magic’ at the suitably addressed 89 and 1/2 Worship Street. The 2017 ceremony will be a celebration of the most innovative, thought provoking and adventurous digital work to come out of Britain in the past 12 months – and will be designed around telling some of the incredible stories to come out of this year's entries.

This year’s high calibre judging panel includes Anna Rafferty, Global Director for Digital Marketing at BBC Worldwide, Resh Sidhu, Creative Director at Framestore VR Studio, and Dave Coplin, Principal Tech Evangelist at Microsoft.

Bridging out from their bedrock in Communications and Content, this year’s BIMA Awards have been refined to award across five main categories including Technology such as Artificial Intelligence and an Immersive category, incorporating use of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, Product and Service Design and Big Data.

The winner of each of these main categories will be rewarded for excellence in digital innovation, craft, impact, small budget and conscience, reflecting the fundamental priorities underpinning BIMA’s new proposition.

Nadya Powell, Chair of the BIMA Awards Council said: "The BIMA Awards shortlist is a testament to our ambition for this year's newly revamped awards. Our all-star jury have worked tirelessly to unearth the most innovative digital work the UK has to offer. It's also proven fruitful in identifying where more needs to be done, particularly across Diversity and Talent, with this year's finalists acting as a strong benchmark for the industry. We are delighted to be able to showcase those pushing the limits of what is possible - congratulations to all our finalists!"

The Awards will be sponsored by award winning R&D tax specialists ForrestBrown and digital marketing platform Jahia.
