Couple puts on augmented reality 'Gocompare glasses' to scope out better deals

The latest advert from Gocompare.com features its own light hearted take on wearable tech and includes a 3D version for cinema audiences.

The ad, once again set in a fictional town with a ridiculously long name , shows a couple on the hunt for home insurance and putting on augmented reality “Gocompare glasses”, complete with ‘Defaqto lenses’.

The Gocompare glasses instantly allow the couple to see more details about the insurance policies before them, helping them choose the best one for their needs. They are so impressed with the glasses’ unique powers, they keep them on and compare everything they encounter in the town, including twins, a pair of sheep and a couple of men out walking their dogs.

This advert is designed to show how easy it is for customers to find the right policy with the help of Gocompare.com’s in-depth comparison services, which incorporate information from independent financial research company Defaqto.

The 30-second ad, created by Fold7, will air in 3D in cinemas for one month from Monday, 19th May. The spot will also break on TV on 19th May, as well as running on VOD channels.

Ryan Newey, Fold7’s executive creative director, said: “We thought this idea lent itself really well to a 3D version and so have produced our first 3D spot, coming soon, to a cinema near you.”

Kevin Hughes, chief marketing officer at Gocompare.com, said: “We’ve always sought to provide a really useful comparison service, one that not only helps people find great prices, but also the products and policies with the cover and features they really need.

“That is why we have teamed up with Defaqto, to add additional policy details to a selection of our insurance comparison services, making it easier for our customers to make a more informed buying decision.”
