Mark, M&C Saatchi’s digital, direct and data business, has continued a momentous year with the appointment of highly regarded digital specialist Glynn Honey to Managing Director.
Mr Honey comes to the role having founded, led and managed various digital marketing businesses over 16 years.
Most recently he successfully launched the Australia & New Zealand branch of Joule, WPP’s mobile marketing network, extending its global presence into the Australian market.
Previous roles included a repositioning of Isobar Australia, where he successfully redefined the agency offering from a production-led digital supplier to a strategic digital marketing partner model, winning major competitive pitches at both a local and regional level.
His CV also includes General Manager roles at Sydney digital agency @WWW Digital and the Creative and Strategy arm of integrated digital agency, Hyro.
Mr Honey’s appointment follows a prolonged period of new business growth and ground-breaking work by the agency that has made its mark globally.
Developed in partnership with Google, Lego and North Kingdom, Mark’s ‘Build with Chrome’ idea encouraged the world to build a virtual Lego creation using the Google Maps platform.
Another project, FRONTROW, attracted hundreds of thousands to shoot and share Vivid LIVE Festival events at the Sydney Opera House with a bespoke YouTube gadget that used world-first technology.
Mr Whittle, Managing Director Australia at M&C Saatchi said few stones were left unturned in the global search for the perfect candidate to lead Mark.
“Glynn is that person. His pedigree as a pioneer in the digital marketing space, credentials and experience are outstanding.
“He encapsulates the M&C Saatchi entrepreneurial ethos and we are excited by the prospect of Glynn propelling Mark to another level.”
A talented rugby league player, Mr Honey played several Test matches for Ireland, a number as captain.
Mr Honey said taking the role was a “no brainer”.
“There were many attractions to taking this opportunity with Mark.
“From the outset they demonstrated a clear and refreshing vision of a company structured for the future, rather than being rooted in service models of the past.
“They have genuinely focused on the idea, explored what is possible and dared to be different – and the results have been inspiring.
“This approach has earned them the trust of their clients and the gravitas in the market required to allow these ideas to see the light of day.
“Add to that their history, people, clients and approach – it really was an easy decision.”
